Information Security

Stockmann takes care of your security while you are shopping online.

The customer information you provide in connection with your order is strictly confidential and we do not disclose it to third parties.

The connection between Stockmann and the customer’s computer is secured by using SSL/TLS protocols. The SSL / TLS security policy protects communications so that an outside observer cannot monitor your connection to see or change your confidential information. SSL / TLS protocols rely on e.g. Finnish online banks, as well as other online services that require secure connections.

When paying by credit card in the Stockmann online store, we use Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode authentication systems to ensure the security of your payment transaction. For your security, we also do not store your debit card number at any time. This way, no one will be able to misuse your information later on.

Stockmann marketing practices

Customer communication

As a Stockmann customer, you may receive customer messages from us. In this case, we use your contact information and other personal information to communicate relating to the management of the customer relationship. Such communications may relate to, for example, changes in our services, terms or privacy policy, or to the delivery or availability of the products or services you have ordered or purchased. To manage the customer relationship, we can approach you by using any of the contact information you have provided to us. We mainly handle customer communications via email, but especially if the matter is important or urgent, we can also send text messages or contact by phone. In some situations, we also approach by letter. You may also receive messages related to your customer relationship directly to the MyStockmann mobile app or to your own pages if you are logged in to the MyStockmann section of our website as a customer.

It is not possible to forbid us from sending customer messages during the validity of the customer relationship.

Electronic direct marketing based on customer relationship

As a Stockmann customer, you may receive direct marketing messages sent to you by email, text message or app push notifications, if we have received your contact information in connection with your order or purchase and have informed you at the same time that we may use the information you provide for such marketing. Such electronic marketing communications relate to similar products and services that you have purchased from Stockmann. The messages may also include customer benefit messages, such as special offers and benefits provided only for our existing customers.

Electronic direct marketing based on customer relationship does not necessarily require the prior consent of the customer, but the customer has always the right to forbid us from sending such marketing messages. Opting out is easy, for example, directly from the link in the footer or header of the email, by contacting Stockmann’s customer service or by changing your communication settings by logging in to your own MyStockmann account on our website. By logging in to your own account, you can customize the communication settings to suit you.

We may send customer-based electronic direct marketing messages monthly.

Electronic direct marketing based on consent

Permission to send electronic direct marketing messages can be given, for example, by subscribing to Stockmann’s newsletter or in connection with a registration, subscription or a marketing campaign. In the case of other forms than Stockmann newsletter subscription, permission is usually given by ticking a box. In consent-based electronic marketing, we typically inform about new products, offers, or promotions. Such messages may be sent weekly.

A consent you have given for electronic marketing can be withdrawn at any time. This can be done, for example, directly via the link in the footer or header of the e-mail, by contacting Stockmann’s customer service or, if you are a customer, by changing the communication settings by logging in to your MyStockmann account on our website.

Direct marketing by mail

We may mail direct marketing to a customer unless it has been expressly prohibited.

Managing direct marketing communication settings

We strive to make the marketing messages we send relevant and interesting. For this purpose, you can manage your own message settings by logging in to your own MyStockmann account on our website. You can choose your areas of interest, how you want to receive marketing messages and what types of messages you want to receive from us. You can also change your message settings and restrict the sending of marketing messages at any time.

Profiling and automated decision-making in Stockmann’s digital marketing

Profiling refers to any automatic processing of personal data in which, for example, a person’s preferences or interests are assessed using personal data. Stockmann uses profiling to target direct marketing and digital advertising. Profiling may utilize information provided by the customer, such as interests and gender information, or information collected through cookies about what a visitor has been interested in when visiting Stockmann’s website. The use of cookies is based on the user’s consent. You can read more about Stockmann’s cookie policies  . The use of other information than what is collected through cookies is based in particular on Stockmann’s legitimate interest. You have the right to object to the processing of personal data based on our legitimate interests (including profiling for marketing purposes).

Through profiling, we aim to make content and marketing more relevant, personal and interesting. For example, based on your gender, we may target you marketing messages of such clothing collections that we think you would be interested in.

Profiling in Stockmann’s marketing does not include automatic decision-making that has legal or other similar effects on the individual.

Targeting advertising on social media based on customer data

On social media and external sites, marketing and advertising can be targeted not only based on cookies, but also based on customer information.

Based on our legitimate interest, we may use your customer information in digital marketing when we use, for example, Facebook’s custom audiences. A custom audience means targeting advertising based on customer information on Facebook, other services it owns, or on Facebook’s partner networks to a Stockmann customer who is also a Facebook customer. The custom target group is formed by creating an encrypted tag based on the customer’s name, email address, and / or phone number, which is compared to Facebook’s encrypted tags. In this way, advertising can be targeted to customers or to completely new target groups that resemble the customer profile. Advertising is carried out in accordance with Facebook’s policies. When Stockmann implements digital marketing with custom audiences, Facebook acts as Stockmann’s personal data processor. Similar digital marketing based on the utilization of customer data may also be implemented in other advertising networks.

If you are a Facebook user and want to prohibit targeted advertising on Facebook or change your advertising settings, you can do so on the Facebook page here.

Targeting advertising on social media and websites based on cookies

The targeting of digital advertising and content on websites and social media often uses cookies or other similar technologies, as well as advertising management systems related to the targeting of advertising. You can read more about Stockmann’s use of cookies  .

By using cookies, we may target content or advertising on Stockmann’s own pages, external websites or social media, for example based on what you have been interested in when you visited Stockmann’s website or based on your demographic information (such as age and gender). The information collected through cookies may be combined with other customer information to target advertising. The use of cookies for marketing purposes requires a consent, which we ask from the website visitor with the help of a cookie management tool on our website. If you want to restrict use of cookies or change your cookie settings, you can do so in the cookie management tool. When you change the settings, it tells us that you no longer want Stockmann to store cookies to target and measure marketing.
