In the heart of the north, where snowflakes dance like little ballet dancers, there was a forest. And amidst its ancient trees, lived two squirrels.
One night, while the squirrels were decorating their home tree for Christmas, they saw a frightened deer fawn. The fawn had got lost, so the squirrels decided to help it find its way home.
Together they wandered deeper into the forest, admiring the starry skies and listening to the whispering of the winter winds. Fatigue made their steps heavy. Suddenly, they saw a small cottage decorated with magical iridescent soap bubbles and with smoke coming out of its chimney.
The door was opened by a smiling elf who invited the travelers to rest their wary heads and offered them warm cocoa and freshly baked cookies. The fawn and the squirrels had dinner by the fire. They shared their favorite memories of Christmas and of their loved ones: those who had already passed, and those who had not yet arrived. The elf rocked in his chair, listening to the chatter and spun his crochet hook around red yarn.
When the friends said goodbye to the elf in the morning, he gently tied the red ribbon he had crocheted onto the fawn’s neck. The fawn started to think about his family and felt a thrill in his chest. In that same instant, the ribbon began to shimmer like the Northern Lights and the fawn knew exactly in which direction to go. Following the warm glow of the ribbon, the trio continued their adventure through the forest, past frozen streams and high mounds of snow.
Finally, they arrived at a familiar home lake, where the fawn’s family had gathered on the shore to await their young.
After long and happy hugs, the deer family and all the other animals gathered around a long table of food. They sang Christmas carols, played in the fluffy snow, and admired the gifts the elf had hidden under the spruce.
As the forest birds decorated the large tree, the lights turned were lit. A magically glowing red ribbon was wrapped around the tree and tied into a large bow at the top.
And thus, this adventure became a legend that reminded everyone of the true meaning of Christmas: the power of love, generosity and community. With their help, even those who are lost could find their way back home.
