This accessibility statement explains how the Stockmann online store complies with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, what shortcomings there are in its accessibility, and how you can provide us with feedback on accessibility issues.

This service is provided by Lindex Group. We want as many users as possible to be able to use our digital services. We take accessibility into account in the development of our digital services.

How accessible is the service?

This service partially meets the accessibility criteria required by law at levels A and AA (WCAG 2.1 and 2.2). There are some accessibility shortcomings that are described in more detail below.

Monitoring of accessibility

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) monitors the implementation of accessibility requirements. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive, or if you do not receive a response at all within two weeks, you can provide feedback to Traficom. Traficom’s website “Submit a complaint on web accessibility or request clarification” provides detailed information on how to file a complaint and how the matter will be handled.

Content or functions that are not yet accessible

Structure

• The service does not have a skip link to bypass repeated blocks of content. (WCAG 2.4.1)
• Incorrectly coded tables and accordions in the store guide. (WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2)

Language markings

• Foreign languages in footer without proper language markings. (WCAG 3.1.2)

Parsing

• The service has some errors in the source code that may affect the use of assistive technology. (WCAG 4.1.1)

Contrasts

• Highlighted navigation items do not meet contrast requirements. (WCAG 1.4.3)
• Highlights and discounted prices on product cards do not meet contrast requirements. (WCAG 1.4.3)
• Contrasts in newsletter subscription do not meet the requirements. (WCAG 1.4.3)
• Texts on top of images are poorly distinguished. (WCAG 1.4.3)

Navigation

• Links in the header have English names in Finnish site or no name at all. Some links are semantically marked as buttons. (WCAG 2.4.6, 4.1.2)
• ARIA properties are used incorrectly in several elements. (WCAG 4.1.2)
• Mega menus are not accessible with keyboard-only. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• Reading and focus orders on the mega menu are not logical. (WCAG 1.3.2, 2.4.3)
• Navigation element is not operable through a keyboard interface. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• The menu includes image links with poor accessible names. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.6)

Mobile navigation

• The menu button has an English name in the Finnish site. (WCAG 2.4.6)
• There is no indication for assistive technology whether the menu is open or closed. (WCAG 4.1.2)
• The focus order does not move to the open menu and the menu cannot be closed with the Esc key. (WCAG 2.4.3, 3.2.1)
• The menu items are semantically marked as links although they operate as buttons. (WCAG 4.1.2)
• When using assistive technology or keyboard-only, all the content in the hidden menus is also available. (WCAG 1.3.2, 2.4.3)

Search function

• Search opens automatically on keyboard focus. (WCAG 3.2.1)
• Search button has no visible focus indicator for keyboard use. (WCAG 2.4.7)
• The search uses a tab mechanism with incorrect semantic markings. (WCAG 2.1.1, 4.1.2)
• There is no indication of success or failure in search query. (WCAG 4.1.3)
• All headings in the search section are not semantically marked as headings. (WCAG 1.3.1)
• There are buttons with poor labels or without a label in the search function. (WCAG 2.4.4, 4.1.2)
• The links in the products section of the search are confusing and include number codes for images. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4)
• The search tab can be focused by assistive technology and keyboard even when it is closed and visually hidden. (WCAG 1.3.2, 2.4.3)
• Filters for search results are not operable with keyboard-only. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• There is no focus indicator in selected filters nor in selecting the order. (WCAG 2.4.7)
• When browsing through the options for search result order, the page is instantly reloaded. (WCAG 3.2.2)
• The pagination has poor color contrasts, has no visible focus indicator, the previous and next page icons have no accessible name, and the current page is not communicated through screen reader. (WCAG 1.3.1, 1.4.3, 2.4.7, 4.1.2)
• There are confusing roles and missing names for elements in the filters section. (WCAG 4.1.2)

Headings and text content

• All visible headings are not semantically marked as heading on the home or store page. (WCAG 1.3.1)
• Discounted prices are not distinguishable from original prices for assistive technology. (WCAG 1.3.1)

Interactive elements

• The footer includes confusing radio buttons for subscribing to a newsletter. (WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2)
• The Add to favorites icon has no visible focus indicator. It has an English label on the Finnish site. (WCAG 2.4.6, 2.4.7)
• When adding an item into favorites, a popup dialog with interactive elements is shown, but only very briefly. Although the dialog is visually hidden, it remains in the focus and reading orders. The close button in the dialog is not operable with keyboard-only. (WCAG 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.4.7)
• Product cards include unnecessary focus points. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.3, 2.4.4)
• There are unnecessary buttons for product carousels on the home page. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6)
• All the campaign section items have an unnecessary button “Category Campaign” attached to them. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.3, 2.4.4, 4.1.2)
• Brand image links have no clear name. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4)
• The information in the tooltip is inaccessible for keyboard and assistive technology. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• The color picker for products has no visible focus, it has incorrect roles, and its value is not communicated through assistive technology. (WCAG 2.4.7, 4.1.2)
• The size helper is inaccessible with keyboard and assistive technology. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• The size picker and color selection cause dynamic content changes that are not communicated through assistive technology. (WCAG 3.2.2)
• There is no visible focus for Add to cart or Add to favorites icons on product page. (WCAG 2.4.7)
• The size picker and wish list functions have inaccurate names. (WCAG 2.4.6)
• The buttons for store availability and selecting a store are inaccessible for keyboard and assistive technology. They also lack proper roles and visible focus. (WCAG 2.1.1, 2.4.7, 4.1.2)
• The accordions on product page are inaccessible for keyboard and assistive technology. In addition, they do not provide their value correctly. Moreover, the contents that are hidden in closed accordions are available for assistive technology and keyboard. (WCAG 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 2.1.1, 2.4.3, 4.1.2)
• Feedback is missing for assistive technology both when an item is added to the cart successfully or when more information is required. (WCAG 4.1.3)
• Visually hidden content is available for keyboard and assistive technology in the cart page. (WCAG 2.4.3)
• Buttons in the shopping cart miss names or have English names in the Finnish site. (WCAG 2.4.6, 4.1.2)
• The gift wrapping is preselected in the shopping cart, but this is not communicated through assistive technology. The checkboxes are inaccessible for keyboard-only, so keyboard users cannot even remove the selection. (WCAG 2.1.1, 4.1.2)
• The tooltip in shopping cart for more information about Online Exclusive items is inaccessible for keyboard-only. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• The accordion buttons in shipping details are inaccessible for both keyboard and assistive technology users. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• Accordions in the info pages have no proper role, name or value. (WCAG 4.1.2)
• There is an unconventional toggletip in logging in and registering. (WCAG 4.1.2)

Links

• Links that point to articles don’t have clear, distinguishable names. (WCAG 2.4.4)
• The store pages contain many “Lue lisää” (Read more) links. (WCAG 2.4.4)

Carousels

• The carousel has automatic scrolling and cannot be paused, stopped or hidden. (WCAG 2.2.2)
• The carousel has images with text that cannot be zoomed. (WCAG 1.4.4)
• The carousel images have text over image, which makes some of the text unreadable. (WCAG 1.4.3)
• The carousel buttons are not always visible against their background. (WCAG 1.4.11)
• The carousel content is always visible for assistive technology, so users have to navigate through all slides content, not just the visible slide. (WCAG 1.3.2, 2.4.3)
• If the user is going through the slides slower than they are changing, they might get stuck in the carousel. (WCAG 2.1.2)
• Accessible names of the controls are in English in a Finnish site. (WCAG 2.4.6)
• Arrow buttons in product image carousels lack a visible focus indicator. (WCAG 2.4.7)

Forms

• Error messages are not communicated through assistive technology in logging in. (WCAG 4.1.3)
• The error message is not associated to the field when logging in and registering. (WCAG 3.3.2)

The shortcomings listed here are intended to be corrected by the end of 2025.
